CHILEAN SWALLOW Tachycineta meyeni

Very tiny bird; length: 13.5 cm ( 5.25 inches), regular summer visitor to the Falkland Islands. Feeds on small day -light insects taken in flight. Chilean swallows have been recorded as breeding only once in the Falklands.

Summer visitor to the Beagle Channel Islands, Staten and Cape Horn Archipelago. Breeds in southern Chile to about 27°S and in Argentina to about 37°S.
